Materials for Dimensional Letters

Acrylic letters offer a sleek, modern look — available in any color or clear with painted backs for a color-reveal effect. Hardwood letters (walnut, oak) bring natural warmth. PVC foam board is lightweight and budget-friendly for larger installations. Brushed aluminum composite (ACM) delivers a genuine metal appearance without the weight or cost of solid aluminum. Dimensional letters are among the most popular lobby signs for offices and commercial spaces.

Shadow Effect & Standoff Sizing

Pin-mount standoffs hold each letter 3/4" to 1-1/2" off the wall, casting a natural shadow that adds perceived depth. We calculate standoff projection based on letter height and ambient light direction for optimal shadow definition. Standoff finishes include brushed stainless, matte black, polished chrome, and satin brass — or hidden pins for a truly floating look.

Sizing, Fonts & Layout

Letters range from 2" for suite numbers to 36"+ for feature walls. We work with any font — from clean sans-serifs to custom hand-lettered logos. Each letter is individually mounted using a laser-cut paper template that ensures exact spacing. Kerning is adjusted for 3D context since pin-mounted letters read differently than flat print.
