Channel letters are individually fabricated three-dimensional letters and logos — typically illuminated with internal LED modules — mounted directly to a building facade or interior wall. Each letter is its own enclosed "channel" with metal returns, a translucent or solid face, and a built-in light source. The result is a sign that reads cleanly during the day and glows at night, holding up to weather, sun, and decades of use. Channel Letter Types We Fabricate

There are three main illumination styles, each producing a different visual register at night. Front-lit channel letters have translucent acrylic faces that glow from the front — the most legible and traditional storefront approach. Halo-lit (reverse) channel letters have solid metal faces with the LED light spilling out the back, creating a soft glow on the wall behind each letter. This is the premium aesthetic — used by high-end boutiques, luxury hotels, and corporate headquarters. Front-and-halo combination letters glow both ways, doubling visibility at night without sacrificing the polished daytime look.

Materials & Construction

Letter returns (sides) are typically aluminum sheet — 5-inch, 8-inch, or custom depths depending on the architectural scale. Faces are either translucent acrylic for front-lit versions, brushed or painted aluminum for halo-lit, or laminated metal-on-acrylic composites for premium combinations. We use 5-year-warranty UL-listed LED modules from manufacturers like SloanLED and GE — known for their cool-white and warm-white consistency and minimal maintenance over a decade-plus lifetime. Where Channel Letters Work Best

Channel letters are the right call when your sign needs to read from across a parking lot, attract foot traffic from a sidewalk, or hold up under direct sun for ten-plus years. Common applications: retail storefronts (channel letters are required by most LA shopping center sign codes for tenants), restaurants and cafes (especially front-lit for evening visibility), corporate office buildings (halo-lit for premium tenant identification), medical and dental offices in strip centers, fitness studios and gyms, and auto dealerships.
