About Lumberthing

Lumberthing is a fabrication studio in Los Angeles that specializes in custom 3D signage, carved wall panels, and dimensional elements from wood and acrylic. We're not a print shop and we're not a vinyl sign company — we carve, cut, and build real dimensional pieces that you can see and touch.

What Makes Us Different

Most sign shops in LA work with vinyl plotters, small desktop lasers, and flatbed printers. The result is flat, 2D graphics applied to substrates. There's nothing wrong with that for basic signage — but it's not what we do.

Our equipment lets us carve into material, create real depth and texture, and build pieces that physically stand off the wall. A carved wood logo has presence that a printed vinyl sticker never will. Dimensional acrylic letters with shadow-casting standoffs create visual depth that flat graphics can't replicate.

We combine our large-format CNC (for structure and form) with our precision laser (for detail and finishing) to produce hybrid pieces that are both bold at a distance and refined up close.

Our primary clients are business owners in Los Angeles who need reception and lobby signage — med spas, dental offices, salons, law offices, restaurants, and corporate offices. We also work with interior designers on feature walls, architects on decorative panels, and retail brands on custom product displays.
